What Is Humanly AI and Who Uses It?
By Aaron Cao · Updated

Humanly is recruiting software that helps employers automate candidate screening and interview scheduling. Applicants encounter it as part of an employer's hiring process. It serves the hiring team; it is not a personal interview assistant that supplies candidates with suggested answers.
What does Humanly AI do for employers and applicants?
An invitation mentioning Humanly can leave you unsure who the AI assists. Understanding its screening and scheduling role helps you identify what the employer is asking you to complete.
Humanly supports recruiting workflows, including automated applicant screening and interview scheduling. The hiring team uses the software to manage parts of its recruiting process. As an applicant, you participate in that process by answering requested questions or arranging an interview.
Two activities are worth separating:
- Screening: collecting information relevant to an application, such as the experience or availability an employer asks about.
- Scheduling: coordinating when a subsequent conversation will take place.
The phrase interview copilot can obscure this distinction. Software assisting a recruiter with an interview serves a different purpose from software suggesting answers to a candidate. Humanly belongs on the employer side of that comparison.
The product name alone does not establish the interview format, assessment criteria, or decision-making process. Use the employer's invitation and instructions to understand your particular stage.
How should I prepare for a Humanly screening?
Prepare for the advertised role and the requested format. An automated screening still needs accurate, relevant answers, but you do not need to invent a strategy for pleasing an unknown scoring system.
- Check the invitation: identify the employer, role, deadline, expected format, and contact for questions. Verify an unexpected invitation through a known employer contact before submitting personal information.
- Review your application: have your resume and job description available during preparation. Check dates, responsibilities, and any qualifications you listed.
- Prepare specific examples: choose situations that show the skills requested in the job description. Explain what you personally did and what happened.
- Answer practical questions precisely: give truthful information about availability, location, and experience when asked. Request clarification if a question does not fit your circumstances.
- Check the next step: follow the completion instructions and retain any confirmation provided. Ask the hiring contact about unclear deadlines or technical problems.
Consider a customer support applicant invited to complete an automated screening. Before starting, they prepare an example of resolving a billing complaint and check their availability against the advertised shifts. When asked about experience or scheduling, they can answer with concrete facts consistent with their application.

How does Humanly differ from SubcueAI?
The main difference is whose task the software supports. Humanly assists the employer's recruiting process. SubcueAI assists the candidate with live interview answer suggestions.
SubcueAI has two live-assist surfaces with different audio inputs:
- Native desktop app: available on macOS and Windows, it captures system audio and microphone audio and displays assistance in a floating local overlay. It works with desktop meeting clients, including Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
- Browser extension: its Side Panel provides live interview assistance on Chromium browsers, including Chrome and Edge. It captures the meeting tab's audio only, meaning the interviewer, never your microphone. It supports browser-tab calls, such as Google Meet, and does not transcribe the candidate. The Firefox build supports mock practice only.
With either SubcueAI surface, no meeting bot joins the call and no content script is injected into the meeting page. Those facts describe how SubcueAI operates; they do not establish what Humanly can observe or whether an employer permits assistance.
The interview format also matters. A text-only screening supplies no spoken interviewer audio for live audio capture. Establish whether your next step is an automated questionnaire, a spoken screening, or a meeting before deciding whether an audio assistant fits it.

Can I use an AI assistant during a Humanly interview?
Check the employer's rules for that specific assessment. An invitation sent through Humanly does not grant permission to use outside assistance, and the software's name does not tell you whether the session is proctored or monitored.
If the rules are unclear, ask the hiring contact before the assessment. You can still prepare beforehand by reviewing your application, practicing answers, and identifying questions about the role.
SubcueAI's lack of a meeting bot or injected content script does not guarantee that its use is invisible. Screen sharing, recording, proctored assessments, and company-managed devices are outside any assurance of non-detection. A share or recording that includes your desktop can expose an overlay or Side Panel; device management or proctoring can introduce other visibility.
A meeting recording and a recording of your entire screen capture different things. Do not assume that a private-looking interface will stay private under every sharing or recording setup, or that privacy establishes permission.
