What Toptal, Karat, Turing, HireVue and other hiring platforms actually test, stage by stage.

A hiring-platform screen is a different animal from an employer interview. The process is standardized, which means it is researchable: Toptal's stages, Karat's interview format, Turing's tests and HireVue's recorded one-way rounds run the same way for every candidate, so knowing the format in advance is legitimate preparation, not an unfair edge.
The pages in this cluster break those processes down stage by stage — what each platform actually evaluates, how long the pipeline takes, what the pass bars look like, and where candidates most often get filtered out. Marketplace vetting (Toptal, Turing, Braintrust, Arc, Gun.io, Andela) leans on timed technical screens and structured interviews; assessment vendors (Karat, BarRaiser, HireVue) sell the interview itself as a product; job boards (Indeed, Wellfound, Upwork, LinkedIn) mix automated assessments with recruiter calls.
One honest boundary, stated here rather than buried: several of these platforms run proctored or AI-scored assessments, and those are out of scope for real-time assistance — proctoring watches the machine, and our responsible use policy is explicit about it.
