Is There a Mobile AI Interview Assistant?
Yes, with one limit. SubcueAI's iPhone app (iOS 16.1+) gives live help in Listen mode, hearing an interview playing on another device, and runs AI mock interviews. No app can hear a call running on the same iPhone, so the interview stays on a computer or second device.

Yes, with one limit. SubcueAI's iPhone app (iOS 16.1+) gives live help in Listen mode, hearing an interview playing on another device, and runs AI mock interviews. No app can hear a call running on the same iPhone, so the interview stays on a computer or second device.

Why live help on a phone works differently

You want interview help on your phone, and that is now possible, with one rule no app can get around. This section explains the rule and how SubcueAI's iPhone app works within it, so you can set up the right way before the interview starts.

A live interview assistant has to hear the interviewer. On a desktop, SubcueAI's native app for macOS and Windows reads the call's system audio and your microphone directly. Phones do not allow that: iOS sandboxes apps so one app cannot capture another app's audio, and it never lets an app hear a call running on the same iPhone. So SubcueAI's iPhone app (iOS 16.1 or later, on the App Store since September 2026) listens the other way around. In Listen mode, the interview plays on your computer or another phone with the speaker on, the iPhone sits within arm's reach, and the app transcribes both voices and drafts an answer when you tap Get answer. Setup for each device is on the tutorial page.

What you can and cannot do on mobile

Mobile covers more than preparation now, as long as the call runs somewhere else.

  • You can get live answer suggestions on an iPhone while the interview plays out loud on your laptop or a second phone.
  • You can run AI mock interviews in the iPhone app, which end with a scorecard.
  • You can review questions, rehearse answers, and study notes on your phone.
  • You cannot get live help for a call running on the same iPhone; iOS keeps that audio away from every other app.
  • You cannot use an Android app yet; SubcueAI has none on Google Play.

The split is simple: the phone can listen and suggest, but it cannot be the device the interview runs on.

If your interview is on a phone

Sometimes the interview itself is scheduled as a phone or mobile video call. The practical move is to take it on a laptop when you can: join the same Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams meeting from a computer, where SubcueAI's desktop app hears it directly, or turn the laptop's speaker on and let the iPhone app listen beside it.

A sales candidate invited to a mobile video screen on Microsoft Teams can usually join the identical meeting link from a laptop and keep her iPhone next to it in Listen mode, rather than answering the call on the iPhone itself. If you genuinely must take the call on your only phone, lean on preparation: a mock interview beforehand does more than any tool can do during that call.

The honest limit

No app can hear a call running on the same iPhone, and any app that claims to is overpromising. The Listen setup has costs of its own: the audio crosses a room, so a noisy space or a quiet speaker lowers transcription accuracy, and it belongs only where the interview's rules allow assistance. Before each Listen session, SubcueAI asks you to confirm you will tell the interviewer you are using a captioning and AI-assist tool. Recorded, proctored, and screen-shared interviews stay out of scope on every device.

If a computer is available, the desktop app hears the call most cleanly; if it is not, preparation is the honest substitute. Pricing and the free tier are on the pricing page.

FAQ

Is there a mobile app for real-time interview help?

Yes. SubcueAI's iPhone app (iOS 16.1 or later) gives real-time help in Listen mode, hearing an interview that plays out loud on another device. It cannot hear a call running on the same iPhone.

What platforms does SubcueAI run on?

macOS and Windows as native desktop apps, iPhone as a native app on the App Store, and Chrome or Edge through a browser extension whose side panel assists browser-tab calls. There is no Android app on Google Play yet.

What if my interview is scheduled on my phone?

Join the same meeting link from a laptop when you can, then use the desktop app, or keep the iPhone app listening beside the laptop's speaker. If the call can only run on your iPhone, prepare thoroughly instead.

Can I at least prepare on mobile?

Yes. The iPhone app runs AI mock interviews that end with a scorecard, and reviewing questions and rehearsing answers work fine on any phone.
